What's Happening?
A unique party concept was hosted by Lucian Novosel in Oakland, where attendees wore custom platform shoes to equalize their heights. Inspired by German artist Hans Hemmert's 1997 creation 'Level', the event aimed to allow participants to meet at eye
level regardless of their actual height. Novosel used a 3D printer to create the shoes, which ranged up to 18 inches in height. The party included games and activities to test balance and coordination at the new heights. Attendees reported a sense of relief and novelty in interacting without the usual height disparities.
Why It's Important?
This event highlights the social dynamics influenced by physical attributes such as height. By equalizing height, the party allowed participants to experience interactions from a different perspective, potentially altering social hierarchies and confidence levels. It also serves as a creative exploration of how physical differences can be temporarily altered to foster inclusivity and new social experiences. Such experiments can inspire broader discussions on diversity and inclusion in social settings.
