What's Happening?
The iconic 'Brady Bunch' house, located in L.A.'s Studio City neighborhood, has been renovated by HGTV to match the interior seen on the classic ABC family sitcom. Originally, the house's interior did
not match the TV set, but in 2018, HGTV purchased and remodeled it to reflect the show's design. This renovation was featured on the HGTV series 'A Very Brady Renovation' in 2019. The project added 2,000 square feet to the property, including a second story, and recreated features like the Bradys' floating staircase and retro kitchen. The house was listed for sale in 2023 at $5.5 million but sold for $3.2 million to media executive Tina Trahan. Tours of the house, dubbed 'The Brady Experience,' are now available for $289.75 per person, offering a one-hour, semi-private, self-guided tour of the living room, kitchen, and kids' bedrooms.
Why It's Important?
The renovation and subsequent tours of the 'Brady Bunch' house highlight the enduring cultural impact of the show and the nostalgia it evokes. The high ticket price reflects the significant interest and value placed on iconic television history. This development also underscores the trend of media companies like HGTV investing in properties with cultural significance to create unique experiences for fans. The use of the house for fundraisers and charity events by the new owner, Tina Trahan, suggests a philanthropic angle, potentially benefiting various causes. The sale and tours of the house contribute to the local economy by attracting tourists and fans, thereby supporting local businesses and services.
