What's Happening?
In Berlin, an interactive art installation by American artist Beeple, also known as Mike Winkelmann, features robot dogs with hyper-realistic silicone heads modeled after figures like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. These robot dogs roam the New National
Gallery, producing printed images of their surroundings, transformed by AI to reflect the personalities of the figures they represent. The exhibit, titled 'Regular Animals,' comments on the influence of technology and algorithms on human perception, suggesting that tech billionaires now shape our worldview more than traditional artists. The installation was first shown at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2025.
Why It's Important?
This exhibit underscores the growing influence of technology and AI on society, highlighting how powerful algorithms controlled by tech giants can shape public perception and reality. It raises questions about the power dynamics in the digital age, where decisions by a few can have widespread impacts without the need for traditional political processes. The installation invites reflection on the ethical implications of such power and the role of art in critiquing and understanding these changes.
