What's Happening?
The FemForward program, established in 2020, is designed to address the 'broken rung' phenomenon in the tech sector, where women struggle to advance from junior to first-level management positions. This initiative aims to empower Israeli women, including
Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Druze participants, by providing professional development, personal mentorship, and cross-cultural collaboration. The program has been particularly significant during the ongoing Gaza conflict, offering support to women whose careers have been disrupted. Participants like Rose Schwartz have benefited from the program, securing raises and advancing in their careers despite personal and professional challenges. FemForward has seen 270 graduates across 10 cohorts, with a significant number achieving promotions or salary increases shortly after completion.

FemForward's efforts are crucial in addressing gender disparities in the tech industry, where women are underrepresented in senior roles. By equipping women with negotiation, management, and communication skills, the program not only enhances individual career prospects but also contributes to broader diversity in leadership. What's Next?
FemForward plans to continue its mission by launching its 11th and 12th cohorts in Jerusalem and Northern Israel. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict, the program remains committed to supporting women in tech. The initiative has attracted significant funding, including a major grant from the Jewish Federations of North America, which will help sustain and expand its efforts. As the program grows, it aims to further increase the representation of women and Arabs in leadership roles within the tech sector, fostering a more inclusive and equitable industry.

FemForward's approach to diversity goes beyond gender, intentionally including a high percentage of Arab women participants. This focus on cross-cultural collaboration is significant in a region often marked by political and social tensions.
