What's Happening?
Aya Gold & Silver, a Canadian mining company, has commenced a feasibility study for the Boumadine polymetallic project located in the east-central Moroccan Province of Errachidia. This project is considered one of the most significant undeveloped precious
metal assets in the region. The study follows a positive preliminary economic assessment released in November 2025. The Boumadine site, which holds a mining license covering 32 square kilometers, is expected to produce an average of 401,000 gold-equivalent ounces annually over the first five years. The project is projected to have a post-tax net present value of $1.5 billion and a life-of-mine revenue of $7 billion. Aya has partnered with several engineering and consulting firms to refine the project design and cost estimates, with the study expected to be completed by the second half of 2027.
Why It's Important?
The Boumadine project represents a significant opportunity for Aya Gold & Silver to expand its operations in North Africa, potentially boosting the region's precious metals production. The project's development could have substantial economic implications, including job creation and increased foreign investment in Morocco. Additionally, the project's success could enhance Aya's market position and contribute to the global supply of polymetallic resources. The involvement of international engineering and consulting firms underscores the project's complexity and the need for specialized expertise in its development.
What's Next?
Aya Gold & Silver plans to complete the feasibility study by the second half of 2027. The study will refine the project's design and cost estimates, paving the way for potential development. The company will likely continue to engage with local and international stakeholders to ensure the project's successful implementation. As the study progresses, Aya may also explore financing options and partnerships to support the project's development. The outcome of the feasibility study will be crucial in determining the project's viability and future steps.
