AbbVie has announced a significant investment of $1.4 billion to establish a pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in Durham, North Carolina. This 185-acre facility will integrate advanced manufacturing and laboratory technologies, including artificial
intelligence, to enhance the production of medicines in immunology, neuroscience, and oncology. The campus is strategically located near Research Triangle Park, chosen for its robust local workforce and potential for future expansion. Construction is set to begin this year, with completion expected by the end of 2028. AbbVie plans to hire 734 professionals, including engineers, scientists, and technicians, while also generating over 2,000 construction jobs during the development phase. This initiative is part of AbbVie's broader $100 billion commitment to U.S. research and development and capital investments over the next decade.
