Prime Video, along with BBC and other British broadcasters, is backing a new initiative to train hair and make-up professionals to better serve actors from ethnic minority backgrounds. The Textured Hair & Make-up for Deep Skin-Tones Accelerator course,
developed by Dandi, aims to address the gap in skills for handling diverse hair textures and skin tones. The program will recruit participants across three streams, offering in-person and online training, industry showcases, and paid placements. This initiative follows research indicating that a significant percentage of actors from ethnic minority backgrounds feel their hair and make-up needs are not adequately met on set.
