What's Happening?
Ticketek Entertainment Group (TEG) has appointed Brad Turcotte as the senior vice president of country for its global touring platform, TEG Live. Turcotte, who has a background in artist management at Vector Management and senior roles at UMG Nashville and Big Machine, will be based in TEG's new Nashville office. His role involves leading TEG Live's country strategy across North America, as the Sydney-based company launches a dedicated touring brand in the country music genre. Turcotte will collaborate with TEG's teams in Australia and New Zealand to develop artist pipelines and partnerships. TEG's global head of touring, Tim McGregor, emphasized the significance of this appointment in strengthening the connection between North America and TEG's home
markets, thereby creating more opportunities for artists and fans.
Why It's Important?
This appointment is significant as it marks TEG Live's strategic expansion into the country music genre, particularly in the North American market. By establishing a presence in Nashville, a central hub for country music, TEG aims to bridge the gap between North American and Asia-Pacific markets. This move could lead to increased touring opportunities for country artists and greater fan engagement. It also highlights the growing international interest in country music, which has traditionally been centered in the United States. Turcotte's experience with major country artists and his role in international strategy at UMG Nashville positions him to effectively lead this expansion, potentially benefiting artists, fans, and the broader music industry.
What's Next?
TEG Live plans to aggressively expand its reach in the country music genre, focusing on underserved markets like Australia. Turcotte will work alongside Alex Kelsey and Clay Doughty in TEG Live's country division, as well as Vanessa Picken, who recently joined as global director of music strategy. The company aims to explore traditional country, alt-country, Americana, folk, and contemporary crossover formats. This expansion could lead to new touring circuits and collaborations, enhancing the global presence of country music. Stakeholders in the music industry, including artists and promoters, may respond by seeking partnerships with TEG to leverage these new opportunities.
