What's Happening?
Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is set to establish a new research and development base at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) in April 2026. This will be DNP's second overseas R&D base, following the establishment of a facility in the Netherlands
in 2025. The collaboration with IITH will focus on mobility and medical healthcare fields, particularly the development of wireless power supply systems for electric vehicles (EVs) and synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). DNP aims to leverage IITH's strengths in human resources and research to accelerate the commercialization of these technologies, targeting the Indian and African markets.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of this R&D base signifies DNP's commitment to expanding its global footprint and enhancing its technological capabilities. By focusing on EVs and APIs, DNP is aligning itself with growing global trends in sustainable transportation and healthcare innovation. This move could lead to significant advancements in wireless power technology and pharmaceutical manufacturing, potentially benefiting industries and consumers worldwide. The collaboration with IITH also underscores the importance of international partnerships in driving technological progress and economic growth, particularly in emerging markets like India.
