ZigZag has announced a partnership with Trade Duty Refund (TDR) to introduce a new EU duty drawback service. This service is designed to assist UK retailers in recovering import costs on goods returned
from the EU. The collaboration integrates ZigZag's returns management platform with TDR's digital claims technology, allowing retailers to reclaim duties on items shipped to EU customers and subsequently returned. This initiative comes in anticipation of significant EU customs changes set to take effect on July 1, 2026, which include the removal of the €150 duty-free threshold and the introduction of a €3 flat customs charge on low-value parcels. These changes are expected to increase costs for UK retailers, especially in high-return sectors like fashion. ZigZag's research indicates that 24% of clothing purchases were returned in 2025, underscoring the financial impact of returns in cross-border ecommerce.
