Tharisa Minerals has initiated the transition from open pit to underground mining at its chrome and platinum group metals operation in South Africa's Bushveld Complex. The project, marked by an inaugural blast, is part of a strategic development to extend
the mine's life beyond the depletion of open pit resources expected in 2034. Cementation Africa has been appointed as the key development partner, responsible for early works and the main development program over the next five years. The project aims to sustain production at 5.6 million tons per annum, with potential to increase to 6.2 million tons.
