What's Happening?
Xn Global Systems, a leader in hospitality point of sale systems, has partnered with Elavon, a major global payment processor, to introduce a new mobile point of sale (POS) device called xnPOS MPay. This device integrates XnPOS software with Elavon's
payment processing capabilities on Castles Technology hardware. The mobile device is designed to allow hotel staff to take orders and process payments anywhere on the property, enhancing service efficiency and guest experience. The device features a high-definition display, an integrated thermal printer, and supports various payment methods including Chip & PIN, magnetic stripe, and contactless payments. The launch follows successful pilot tests in U.S. hotels, where the device demonstrated its ability to untether staff from fixed tills, thereby speeding up service and increasing revenue potential.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the xnPOS MPay device is significant for the hospitality industry as it addresses common service bottlenecks associated with traditional POS systems. By enabling staff to take orders and process payments directly at the table or anywhere on the hotel property, the device reduces the need for staff to make multiple trips to a fixed terminal. This not only speeds up service but also allows staff to spend more time attending to guests, potentially increasing customer satisfaction and repeat business. The integration of Elavon's secure payment processing further ensures that transactions are safe and compliant with industry standards, which is crucial for maintaining customer trust and protecting against fraud.
What's Next?
Following the successful pilot phase, xnPOS MPay is now available for full-scale deployment across select-service and full-service hotels. As hotels adopt this technology, it is expected that there will be a noticeable improvement in service efficiency and guest satisfaction. The hospitality industry may see a trend towards more mobile and flexible service solutions, driven by the need to enhance guest experiences and operational efficiency. Stakeholders in the hospitality sector, including hotel managers and technology providers, will likely monitor the performance of this new system closely to assess its impact on service delivery and revenue generation.
