What's Happening?
San Antonio is set to host the inaugural National Lumpia Week from March 10 to 16, 2026, expanding from the previously celebrated National Lumpia Day. Organized by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce – Greater San Antonio (PACC-GSA), the event
aims to honor lumpia, a popular Filipino dish similar to spring rolls. The week-long celebration will feature a daily Lumpia Food Crawl, where participants can visit different restaurants and food trucks offering various lumpia dishes. The event will also include 'Bring Lumpia to Work Day' on March 13, encouraging people to share lumpia with colleagues. Proceeds from official Lumpia Week merchandise will support PACC humanitarian projects.
Why It's Important?
National Lumpia Week highlights the cultural significance of Filipino cuisine in the United States, promoting cultural diversity and community engagement. The event provides an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their culinary offerings, potentially boosting their visibility and sales. It also strengthens community ties by bringing people together to celebrate a shared cultural heritage. Additionally, the event supports charitable causes, with proceeds from merchandise sales aiding humanitarian projects, thereby enhancing its social impact.
What's Next?
As the event approaches, more restaurants and food trucks are expected to join the lineup, increasing the variety of lumpia offerings available to participants. The success of this inaugural event could lead to its establishment as an annual tradition, further promoting Filipino culture and cuisine in the region. The PACC-GSA will continue to update the community on event details and encourage participation through social media and their official website.
