The 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in Greece has announced the films competing in two major categories: the Newcomers and Film Forward Competition sections. The Newcomers Competition features 14 films by young filmmakers, each over 50 minutes long, vying for the Golden Alexander 'Dimitri Eipides' and Silver Alexander Awards, with cash prizes of €10,000 and €4,000 respectively. The Film Forward Competition includes 10 films that challenge cinematic conventions, offering a Golden Alexander prize of €6,000 and a Silver Alexander prize of €3,000. The festival, which runs from March 5 to 15, 2026, in Thessaloniki, Greece, aims to showcase innovative and daring documentary films from around the world.
