OCI Energy and CPS Energy have begun construction on the Alamo City Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near San Antonio, Texas. This project, one of the largest standalone BESS projects in the region,
aims to enhance grid reliability during peak electricity demand. The facility will have a capacity of 120 MW/480 MWh, providing power for up to four hours. The project is expected to be operational by 2027 and is supported by various organizations, including ING Capital and LG Energy Solution Vertech, which are providing financing and technology, respectively.
