What's Happening?
Holland & Knight has announced the expansion of its tax-exempt organizations and philanthropy practice group with the addition of Alexandra Mitchell as a partner in Seattle. Mitchell brings two decades of experience advising tax-exempt organizations,
institutional clients, and private wealth principals on complex federal tax matters. Her practice focuses on exempt organization structuring, charitable giving, IRS examinations, private letter rulings, and philanthropic planning. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mitchell was with RSM's Washington National Tax office and KPMG's Washington National Tax office. This strategic hire aims to enhance the firm's capabilities in providing comprehensive tax and philanthropic planning services to its clients.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of Holland & Knight's tax-exempt practice with the addition of Alexandra Mitchell is significant as it strengthens the firm's ability to serve clients in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. With increasing regulatory scrutiny and the complexity of tax laws affecting tax-exempt organizations, having experienced legal counsel is essential for navigating these challenges. Mitchell's expertise in tax-exempt structuring and philanthropic planning will be valuable in helping clients achieve their charitable goals while ensuring compliance with federal tax regulations. This move also reflects the growing demand for specialized legal services in the tax-exempt sector, as organizations seek to optimize their tax strategies and enhance their philanthropic impact.
