Rivian has introduced an online configurator for its R2 mid-size electric SUV, allowing reservation holders to customize their vehicles ahead of delivery. The R2 Performance trim is priced at $57,990, slightly undercutting Tesla's Model Y Performance,
which is priced at $58,880. This launch comes ahead of Rivian's planned June timeline, indicating confidence in their production capabilities at the Normal, Illinois factory. The R2 is a pivotal model for Rivian, aiming to achieve higher sales volumes compared to its previous models, the R1S and R1T. The configurator currently offers only the Performance trim, with the Premium and Standard trims expected to be available later in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
