What's Happening?
UNIFIED Music Group, an independent music company, has announced its expansion into New Zealand by appointing veteran artist manager Matt Harvey as a senior artist manager. Harvey, who has over two decades of experience in the music industry, was a founding
member of the award-winning drum 'n' bass act Concord Dawn. After spending ten years in Vienna, Austria, Harvey returned to Auckland in 2016 and transitioned from being a self-managed artist to a business professional. He launched the management company Southeast, which includes a team led by day-to-day manager Mandy Keighley. Harvey's roster at UNIFIED will include artists such as Shapeshifter, Daily J, Mim Jensen, Spell, and ex-Shihad frontman Jon Toogood. UNIFIED's expansion into New Zealand is part of its commitment to advocacy and long-term investment in the Trans-Tasman music community.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of UNIFIED Music Group into New Zealand signifies a strategic move to strengthen the music industry in the region. By bringing in an experienced manager like Matt Harvey, UNIFIED aims to support local artists and help their music reach a global audience. This move could potentially boost the New Zealand music scene by providing artists with more resources and opportunities for international exposure. It also highlights the importance of artist management in the music industry, as managers play a crucial role in developing and sustaining artists' careers. The expansion aligns with UNIFIED's philosophy that great music transcends borders, and it could lead to increased collaboration between Australian and New Zealand artists.
What's Next?
With Matt Harvey at the helm, UNIFIED Music Group plans to explore further opportunities to engage with the New Zealand music industry. The company is committed to building a sustainable future for the Trans-Tasman music community, which may involve more investments and partnerships in the region. As UNIFIED continues to expand its presence, it is likely to attract more artists seeking management and support. The company's focus on advocacy and long-term investment suggests that it will work closely with local stakeholders to address challenges and promote the growth of the music industry in New Zealand.
