What's Happening?
The Sharks Foundation, in partnership with PG&E, has initiated the planting of the first Miyawaki micro-forest at Walden West Outdoor School. This project, funded by a grant, aims to provide educational opportunities for young learners to observe forest growth
and ecological changes over time. The initiative is part of the Sharks Foundation's Youth Education pillar, designed to offer thousands of current and future campers lessons in biology, ecology, and science. The micro-forest will serve as a living classroom, enhancing environmental education and awareness among students.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of the micro-forest represents a significant step in promoting environmental education and sustainability. By providing hands-on learning experiences, the project encourages young people to engage with nature and understand the importance of ecological conservation. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to address environmental challenges and foster a sense of responsibility towards the planet among future generations. The collaboration between the Sharks Foundation and PG&E highlights the role of corporate partnerships in supporting community-based environmental projects.
