What's Happening?
The University of Southern Indiana (USI) and Amcor have launched a collaborative project aimed at providing students with practical experience in consumer packaging. This initiative, set to begin in spring 2026, involves seven students working alongside faculty mentors and Amcor industry experts to develop innovative packaging solutions. The project will focus on creating a business case, value proposition, and proof of concept for a specific packaging challenge. Students will engage with Amcor specialists in various fields, including product development and sustainability, to refine their ideas. This partnership is designed to foster innovation and support workforce development in the Evansville area.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration between USI and Amcor
is significant as it bridges the gap between academia and industry, providing students with real-world experience and enhancing their employability. By involving students in practical projects, the initiative supports the development of a skilled workforce, which is crucial for regional economic growth. For Amcor, this partnership offers access to fresh ideas and potential innovations in packaging, which can enhance their product offerings and market competitiveness. The project also strengthens the relationship between USI and local industries, promoting ongoing collaboration and community development.
