What's Happening?
Altair Minerals has initiated a 30,000-meter drilling program at the Greater Oko Project in Guyana, comprising 15,000 meters each of diamond and rotary air blast (RAB) drilling. The program targets the South Oko (SOKO) prospect and includes historic trenching
results at the North Peters prospect, revealing significant gold mineralization. The project spans 590 square kilometers, making it the largest contiguous gold exploration landholding in Guyana. The drilling aims to explore the Oko Shear Zone, which has historically yielded over nine million ounces of gold.
Why It's Important?
This drilling program represents a significant investment in Guyana's mining sector, potentially boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities. The exploration of the Oko Shear Zone could lead to substantial gold discoveries, attracting further investment and development in the region. The project underscores the strategic importance of Guyana's mineral resources and highlights Altair Minerals' commitment to expanding its exploration activities. Successful outcomes could enhance the company's market position and contribute to the global gold supply.
What's Next?
Altair Minerals plans to continue its exploration activities with simultaneous drill programs across the Greater Oko Project. The company aims to optimize its drilling strategy and expand its exploration team. Future steps include further geochemical work, aeromagnetic and LiDAR surveys, and the construction of additional exploration camps. The outcomes of these activities will determine the project's next phases and potential commercial viability.
