What's Happening?
The Odisha cabinet has approved a significant investment by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited to establish a solar manufacturing facility in Ganjam. This project, valued at Rs 10,000 crore, is set to create
over 5,000 jobs, including many skilled positions, thereby boosting the state's renewable energy sector. The facility will be located in the Tata special economic zone and will be developed in two phases. It will have a production capacity of 10 GW ingot-wafer and 5 GW solar cell manufacturing, marking it as the first of its kind in the state. The project is expected to stimulate ancillary industries, providing additional opportunities for MSMEs in sectors like glass, chemicals, and logistics.
