The Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia, has launched the Beauty Made in Italy (BMI) Program to support the expansion of Italian beauty companies in the U.S. market. The program, now in its seventh edition, is designed to foster
collaboration and long-term relationships between Italian and American beauty industries. Erica Di Giovancarlo, trade commissioner at the Italian Trade Agency’s New York office, highlighted the program's role in showcasing the strength and innovation of Italy’s beauty sector. The initiative involves 35 Italian beauty companies, providing them with access to expertise and relationships necessary for success in the U.S. market. The program will culminate in a flagship event in New York, where 21 of the participating brands will be showcased to retailers and content creators.

This initiative is significant as it strengthens the ties between the Italian and American beauty industries, offering Italian brands a platform to penetrate the world's largest beauty market. The U.S. beauty market, with annual sales exceeding $100 billion, presents both opportunities and challenges for international brands. Following the flagship event, the Italian Trade Agency plans to continue supporting Italian beauty brands through educational and mentorship opportunities. The event will be followed by a 'retail safari' in New York City, where brand founders and executives will visit key beauty retail destinations. This initiative aims to provide Italian brands with a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. market dynamics and consumer preferences, further aiding their long-term growth and success in the international arena.
