of Energy's laboratory validation stage for its new 10-14 ton commercial heat pump, which promises significant energy savings and efficiency improvements. This development is part of the Energy Department's 'Commercial Building HVAC Accelerator' program, which seeks to enhance the efficiency of rooftop units (RTUs) used in commercial buildings. Carrier's heat pumps are designed to deliver 100% heating capacity at 5°F and maintain over 70% capacity at -10°F, meeting or exceeding the Department's efficiency standards. Field trials for a new 15-ton rooftop heat pump are underway, with commercial availability expected by summer 2027.
