What's Happening?
Storm Publishing has announced the launch of a new true crime imprint called Notorious Press. This initiative is spearheaded by Claire Bord, the deputy managing director of Storm Publishing. The imprint is set to debut in October 2026 with the release
of 'Ordinary Wife,' a book co-authored by renowned true crime author Gregg Olsen and his daughter Morgan Olsen. The book explores the chilling story of American serial killer Lyda Trueblood. It will be available in both hardback and trade paperback formats and distributed across bookstores in the U.S. and Canada through Storm's partnership with Two Rivers. Storm Publishing, established in 2022 by Oliver Rhodes, the founder of Bookouture, operates as a digital-first publisher.
Why It's Important?
The launch of Notorious Press by Storm Publishing signifies a growing interest and market for true crime literature. This genre has seen a surge in popularity, driven by public fascination with real-life criminal cases and psychological insights into criminal minds. By introducing a dedicated imprint, Storm Publishing is positioning itself to capitalize on this trend, potentially attracting a dedicated readership and expanding its market share in the publishing industry. The collaboration with established author Gregg Olsen also adds credibility and appeal to the imprint's inaugural release, which could enhance its visibility and success in the competitive book market.
What's Next?
With the launch of Notorious Press, Storm Publishing is likely to continue expanding its catalog of true crime stories, potentially exploring other high-profile or lesser-known criminal cases. The success of 'Ordinary Wife' could influence future acquisitions and partnerships with other authors in the genre. Additionally, the imprint's performance may encourage other publishers to invest in similar niche markets, further diversifying the types of content available to readers. The reception of this new imprint will be closely watched by industry stakeholders, including authors, literary agents, and competitors.
