What's Happening?
MagtiCom, Georgia's largest telecommunications provider, has partnered with Mavenir, a cloud-native software company, to deploy small cell technology across the country. This initiative aims to enhance mobile coverage and capacity, particularly in indoor
and enterprise environments. The deployment will begin in the second quarter of 2026, following successful trials earlier this year. MagtiCom plans to start with beta testing for select residential and business customers before a full rollout. The partnership is expected to support the growing demand for high-speed mobile data and improve the digital experience for MagtiCom's over three million customers.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration between MagtiCom and Mavenir is a significant step in advancing Georgia's telecommunications infrastructure. By deploying small cell technology, MagtiCom aims to improve network performance and meet the increasing demand for mobile data services. This move is crucial for supporting the country's digital transformation and enhancing connectivity for both consumers and businesses. The deployment of small cells can also facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies and services, such as Industry 4.0 applications, healthcare solutions, and smart city initiatives, thereby contributing to economic growth and innovation.
What's Next?
As the deployment progresses, MagtiCom will likely focus on expanding coverage to more areas and optimizing network performance. The success of this initiative could lead to further investments in telecommunications infrastructure and technology upgrades. Additionally, the improved network capabilities may attract new business opportunities and partnerships, positioning MagtiCom as a leader in the region's digital landscape. The collaboration with Mavenir could also serve as a model for other telecom operators seeking to enhance their service offerings and meet the evolving needs of their customers.
