What's Happening?
The Fashion Pact and Fashion for Good have launched the Circular Fiber Collective (CFC) to promote textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling and next-generation fibers. This initiative aims to address the barriers
to scaling T2T materials in the fashion industry, such as fragmented demand and limited financing. The CFC will focus on coordinating actions across the value chain, including aggregating demand signals and supporting policy development. The initiative is expected to increase the share of T2T materials in global fiber production to 8% by 2030, according to estimates from Boston Consulting Group and Fashion for Good.
Why It's Important?
The CFC represents a significant step towards a more sustainable fashion industry by promoting the use of recycled and next-generation materials. This initiative could lead to a reduction in the environmental impact of fashion production and encourage more brands to adopt sustainable practices. By addressing the challenges of scaling T2T materials, the CFC could help create a more circular economy in the fashion industry, reducing waste and promoting resource efficiency.
