Cauley was involved in a life-threatening car accident in 2018, which resulted in multiple severe injuries, including broken ribs, a broken leg, and a collapsed lung. Despite these setbacks, Cauley made a remarkable comeback, culminating in a successful 2025 season where he placed sixth at the Players Championship and finished 47th on the season-ending points list.
