Mazama Energy, a Texas-based startup, is developing a geothermal power plant at the Newberry Volcano in Oregon, aiming to provide clean energy to local homes and businesses by late 2027. The project involves
drilling nearly two miles into the earth to create a man-made hot rock reservoir, where water is injected to absorb geothermal heat.
