What's Happening?
A new public art initiative titled 'Art of the Game' has been launched to celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup, featuring 23 soccer ball sculptures installed across New York City and New Jersey. These large-scale artworks, created by internationally
recognized artists, are displayed in prominent locations such as major streets, parks, and museums. The project is organized by ARTS 14C and the FIFA World Cup 2026 New York/New Jersey Host Committee, with support from the late philanthropist Agnes Gund. The sculptures will be on view through Labor Day, with 12 pieces set for permanent installation and five to be auctioned for charity through Christie’s. Participating artists were nominated by institutions like the MoMA and the Whitney Museum, highlighting the cultural significance of the event.
