What's Happening?
Fantagraphics has launched a new line of hardcover graphic novels titled 'Lost Marvels,' focusing on reprinting lesser-known works from Marvel Comics' archives. The latest release, 'Lost Marvels No. 3: Savage Tales of the 1980s,' features a story from Wolverine co-creator Herb Trimpe. The original 'Savage Tales' series, conceived by editor Larry Hama, brought together prominent Marvel creators to craft darker, more adventurous narratives. This marks the first time since 1986 that the series will be available in print. The collection includes works by artists and writers such as John Severin, John Buscema, and Chuck Dixon.
Why It's Important?
The reissue of 'Savage Tales' underscores a growing interest in revisiting and preserving classic comic book stories. By bringing
these works back into circulation, Fantagraphics is not only catering to nostalgia but also introducing these stories to a new generation of readers. This initiative highlights the enduring appeal of comic book art and storytelling, potentially influencing contemporary creators and expanding the market for vintage comics. The involvement of notable creators like Herb Trimpe adds historical value, offering insights into the evolution of comic book narratives and artistic styles.
