What's Happening?
General Mills has announced the launch of new confectionery products that are free from artificial flavors and colors. The new offerings include Gushers super sour candy with flavors like blueberry grape, mixed berry, and raspberry lemonade, as well as Gushers sweet
and fiery candy featuring hot mango and spicy watermelon flavors. Additionally, the company has introduced a Gushers lemonade mix with pink lemonade, limeade, blue raspberry lemonade, and cherry limeade flavors. Fruit by the Foot splits, which include peach and blueberry flavors, are designed to be pulled apart. These products are available at major retailers nationwide, including Target stores.
Why It's Important?
This move by General Mills reflects a growing trend in the food industry towards cleaner labels and more natural ingredients, responding to consumer demand for healthier options. By eliminating artificial flavors and colors, General Mills is aligning with consumer preferences for transparency and natural ingredients in their food products. This could potentially increase the company's market share in the confectionery segment, as health-conscious consumers seek out products that align with their dietary preferences. The introduction of these new products may also set a precedent for other companies in the industry to follow suit, potentially leading to broader changes in product formulations across the market.
