What's Happening?
Julian Dunkley, a former Temple University men's basketball player, is giving back to the community through his basketball program called 'Difference Makers.' Dunkley, who played at Cherry Hill West, Temple, and professionally overseas, was inspired by
his experiences and the teachings of his former coach, John Chaney. The program aims to use basketball as a tool for personal development and community engagement, focusing on mentoring young athletes and providing them with opportunities to grow both on and off the court.
Why It's Important?
Dunkley's initiative highlights the positive impact that former athletes can have on their communities by leveraging their experiences and networks. Programs like 'Difference Makers' can play a crucial role in youth development, offering mentorship and guidance to young athletes who may lack access to such resources. By focusing on personal growth and community involvement, Dunkley's program can help shape future leaders and foster a sense of responsibility and empowerment among participants.
