What's Happening?
Elluminate, a nonprofit organization, has launched the Global Jewish Women’s Leadership Network during its inaugural summit in New York City. This initiative aims to connect Jewish women leaders from nonprofits,
philanthropy, and social advocacy to foster collaboration and support. The network is part of Elluminate's broader mission to advance gender equity and justice, building on its history since its founding in 1995 as the Jewish Women’s Foundation of New York. The summit brought together 70 women from Israel and the U.S., including members of 'The Collective' and the 'Visionary Circle,' to strategize on future initiatives. The network seeks to address social issues impacting women, such as economic violence and reproductive rights, by creating a support system and 'force multiplier' for their efforts.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the Global Jewish Women’s Leadership Network is significant as it addresses the growing challenges faced by women in social activism, particularly in the context of funding rollbacks and increased demand for mentorship. By fostering collaboration and shared infrastructure, the network aims to strengthen individual organizations and amplify women's voices in social justice initiatives. This development is crucial as it provides a platform for women leaders to navigate the increasingly challenging landscape of women's social activism, ensuring sustained efforts towards gender equity and justice.
