What's Happening?
Freire Shipyard has commenced the construction of the Tauriko, a new harvest vessel for the Norwegian company Napier. This vessel is set to be the largest of its kind in the aquaculture sector, with delivery
expected in 2027. Designed in collaboration with Salt Ship Design, the Tauriko will enhance the performance of Napier's current fleet, offering improved speed, operational efficiency, and environmental performance. The vessel will measure 83.90 meters in length and will be powered by a 5,200-kW diesel engine, allowing it to reach speeds of 17 knots. It will feature advanced processing capabilities, including a salmon processing capacity of 200 tons per hour and the ability to transport up to 750 tons of fish. The project adheres to Norway's stringent environmental and quality standards, complying with IMO Tier III regulations.
