What's Happening?
Inter Milan has officially activated a €23 million buyback option to re-sign Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge. The 20-year-old midfielder, who is the son of Inter legend Dejan Stankovic, returns to the club after a successful season in Belgium where
he contributed nine goals and five assists, helping Club Brugge win the league title. Stankovic was initially sold to Club Brugge for €9.5 million, with a buyback clause included in the deal. This strategic move allows Inter to bring back a promising talent at a net cost of €13.5 million, considering the initial sale price.
Why It's Important?
This transaction highlights Inter Milan's strategic approach to player development and financial management. By including a buyback clause in Stankovic's initial sale, Inter ensured they could reacquire a promising player at a reasonable cost. This move not only strengthens their squad but also demonstrates the club's ability to effectively manage player assets. For Stankovic, returning to Inter provides an opportunity to further develop his skills in a top European league and potentially become a key player for the team. The deal also reflects the growing trend of clubs using buyback clauses to maintain control over young talents.
