What's Happening?
MetTel has successfully completed a rapid network capacity upgrade for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as part of the agency's Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contract. This initiative
involved equipping 11 GSA offices across the United States with Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technology, 22 new high-capacity network circuits, and Voice over IP services. The upgrade was necessary to handle increased bandwidth demands following the Administration's directive for federal personnel to return to the office full-time. MetTel's deployment was completed ahead of industry norms, with a new 10G circuit installed in less than 60 days.
Why It's Important?
The network upgrade is crucial for ensuring that GSA offices can meet the increased demands of mission-critical government services. By implementing SD-WAN technology, MetTel has enhanced the resiliency and efficiency of the network, providing federal employees with a high-performance work environment. This upgrade also supports the Administration's return-to-office mandate, which aims to restore normal operations across federal agencies. Additionally, the project demonstrates MetTel's capability to deliver complex telecommunications solutions quickly and efficiently, reinforcing its position as a key player in the government contracting space.
What's Next?
With the network upgrade complete, GSA offices are now better equipped to handle future growth and evolving digital requirements. MetTel's scalable SD-WAN architecture allows for long-term cost avoidance by building in capacity for future needs without additional infrastructure overhauls. As federal agencies continue to modernize their telecommunications infrastructure, similar projects may be undertaken to ensure that government services remain efficient and effective. MetTel is likely to continue its collaboration with GSA and other federal agencies to support ongoing digital transformation efforts.
