What's Happening?
Lionsgate has acquired 'The Death Roll,' a survival horror-thriller spec script by Kas Graham and Rebecca Pollock. The film will be produced by Glen Powell and Dan Cohen through their Barnstorm banner, alongside Bryan Haas from Chasing Epic Pictures.
The story follows a couple whose vacation turns into a nightmare when they encounter a 15-foot saltwater crocodile. Ryan Schwartz will serve as executive producer, with Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio overseeing the project for Lionsgate. The acquisition marks Barnstorm's second spec sale in recent months, following Paramount's purchase of 'The F***boat.'
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of 'The Death Roll' by Lionsgate highlights the studio's continued investment in the horror-thriller genre, which remains popular among audiences. Glen Powell's involvement as a producer adds star power and credibility to the project, potentially increasing its appeal and marketability.
