What's Happening?
Chase has announced significant updates to its Sapphire Preferred credit card, effective June 15, 2026. The card will now offer enhanced rewards, including 3x points on gas and EV charging, and vacation home rentals. Cardholders will also receive a $100
annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit, up from $50, and a complimentary Apple TV subscription for one year. Additionally, the card will provide up to $120 in application fee credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS every four years, along with Emergency Evacuation and Transportation coverage. Despite these enhancements, the annual fee remains unchanged at $95. However, the card's transfer ratio to World of Hyatt will decrease from 1:1 to 4:3, and the 10% anniversary points bonus will be discontinued.
Why It's Important?
These changes make the Chase Sapphire Preferred card more attractive for travelers and everyday users, offering increased value through enhanced rewards and benefits. The card's ability to earn points on gas, EV charging, and vacation rentals positions it as a versatile option for various spending categories. The introduction of comprehensive travel protections and credits for trusted traveler programs enhances its appeal to frequent travelers. However, the devaluation of the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt may impact those who heavily rely on this partnership for maximizing their points. Overall, the updates aim to maintain the card's competitiveness in the travel credit card market.
What's Next?
Cardholders can expect the new benefits to be available starting June 15, 2026. Existing cardholders will receive an email detailing the changes, and new applicants will see the updated features immediately. The changes to the World of Hyatt transfer ratio will take effect on October 1, 2026, for existing cardholders. Chase will likely monitor customer feedback and market trends to assess the impact of these changes and make further adjustments if necessary.
