What's Happening?
Power Integrations has unveiled two new ultra-slim auxiliary power supply reference designs for 800 VDC AI data centers, optimized for NVIDIA Kyber liquid-cooled, blade-rack architecture. These designs, featuring PowiGaN technology, are compact and efficient,
freeing up approximately 30% space on main power distribution boards and reducing the bill of materials by 30%. The single-output, 15 W design measures 30 mm by 30 mm, while the isolated, six-rail, 35 W design is 80 mm by 60 mm. These designs aim to improve reliability and efficiency in high-voltage AI data center applications.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of these compact power supply units is significant for the AI data center industry, which demands efficient and space-saving solutions. By reducing space and component requirements, Power Integrations' designs can enhance the operational efficiency and reliability of data centers. This development is crucial as data centers continue to expand and require more power-efficient solutions to manage increasing workloads. The use of PowiGaN technology also highlights the shift towards more sustainable and efficient power conversion methods in the tech industry.
