What's Happening?
Mars, a global confectionery company, and OFI, a leader in cocoa sustainability, have partnered to accelerate net-zero cocoa production in Ecuador. This initiative, running from 2025 to 2029, builds on over
15 years of collaboration between the two companies and focuses on scaling regenerative agriculture practices across their shared cocoa supply chain. The program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve farm productivity, and strengthen farmer resilience. In its initial phase, the project will support over 960 farmers across key cocoa-growing regions in Ecuador, covering more than 9,000 hectares of farmland. The initiative emphasizes transitioning from traditional full sun monoculture systems to multistrata agroforestry models.
