Carol Merlo, a 73-year-old entrepreneurship coach from Dallas, has embarked on a journey to learn AI coding with the help of her son, Kevin Masterson, an AI mentor. Merlo, who has experience in building websites using platforms like WordPress, Wix, and
Weebly, sought to reduce costs associated with website maintenance. Her son introduced her to AI coding, specifically using Claude Code, which allows her to create and manage websites independently. Despite initial hesitations and challenges with understanding technical jargon, Merlo has developed a Word document to guide her through the coding process. This new skill has empowered her to envision and execute website designs without being limited by her previous knowledge, relying instead on her imagination.
