What's Happening?
Ford Motor Company has introduced two new V8 engines for its Super Duty truck lineup: the 6.8L Mini-Zilla and the 7.3L Godzilla. The 6.8L engine, known as the Mini-Zilla, was introduced in 2023, while the 7.3L Godzilla debuted in 2020. Both engines feature pushrod architecture with overhead valves and a single camshaft located within the engine block. The 6.8L engine is standard in the 2026 Ford XL, XLT, and Lariat Super Duty pickups, with an option to upgrade to the 7.3L engine for an additional $1,500. The King Ranch and Platinum models come standard with the 7.3L engine. The 7.3L Godzilla is the most powerful gas engine in the lineup, producing 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque, while the 6.8L engine delivers 405 horsepower and 445
pound-feet of torque.
