Westpac has appointed Maggie Shi as its new chief AI innovation officer. This role is focused on the incubation and scaling of AI solutions, particularly in generative and agentic AI systems, to enhance
the bank's operations. Shi, who previously worked as a distinguished engineer at CBA, will report to Andrew McMullan, Westpac's chief data, digital, and AI officer. The position is newly created and aims to integrate AI, engineering, data, and automation to foster significant improvements within Westpac. Shi's experience at CBA involved leading a team focused on MLOps and AI platforms, which aligns with her new responsibilities at Westpac.
