What's Happening?
The U.S. aircraft aftermarket is experiencing increased consolidation driven by private equity investments. Air Transport Components (ATC) recently acquired PAS MRO, a bearings repair specialist, to broaden its capabilities and advance its strategy of
building a diversified MRO platform. ATC, owned by AE Industrial Partners, aims to enhance its technical depth and customer relationships through this acquisition. Earlier, Florida-based Airway Aerospace was acquired by AxioAero, a holding company formed by CORE Industrial Partners, seeking synergies with Aviation Concepts, a parts provider and inventory management specialist.
Why It's Important?
The consolidation in the U.S. aircraft aftermarket reflects a strategic move by private equity firms to capitalize on demand for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. By acquiring companies with complementary capabilities, these firms aim to improve turnaround times and deliver greater value to customers. The trend towards consolidation is driven by predictable and recurring repair volumes alongside clear scaling opportunities. Private equity-led deals accounted for a significant portion of M&A activity in the MRO sector, indicating a growing interest in this market segment.
