What's Happening?
The New York Islanders have nominated Kyle Palmieri for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, an award given annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Palmieri suffered a torn ACL in his left
knee on November 28 but managed to skate off the ice under his own power, even contributing a secondary assist during the game. The nomination was made by the Islanders chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association (PHWA). The Masterton Trophy finalists will be announced at a later date.
