What's Happening?
CyberAgent, Inc., through its subsidiary QualiArts, Inc., has announced the global pre-registration for 'hololive Dreams,' the first official mobile game for the female VTuber group 'hololive.' The game, also known as 'holodori,' was unveiled at the 'hololive SUPER
EXPO 2026.' It features a roster of over 50 virtual YouTubers and is set in an amusement park on a remote island. Players are tasked with building the 'DREAM PARK' by completing various facilities for the hololive members. The game is a Rhythm & RPG genre and is free-to-play with in-app purchases available. Pre-registration is available on both the App Store and Google Play, excluding certain regions. To celebrate the launch, several campaigns have been initiated, including milestone rewards, an instant-win giveaway, and a hashtag posting campaign for a chance to win a 15-card set of the 'hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME.'
Why It's Important?
The launch of 'hololive Dreams' marks a significant expansion of the hololive brand into the mobile gaming market, potentially increasing its global reach and influence. The game leverages the popularity of VTubers, which have become a cultural phenomenon, particularly in Japan and among anime fans worldwide. By offering a free-to-play model with in-app purchases, the game could attract a large user base, generating substantial revenue through microtransactions. The pre-registration campaigns are designed to build anticipation and engagement, potentially leading to a strong initial player base. This move could also set a precedent for other VTuber groups and content creators to explore similar ventures, further integrating virtual entertainment into mainstream gaming.
What's Next?
As pre-registration progresses, the success of the initial campaigns will likely influence the game's launch strategy. If the pre-registration numbers are high, it could lead to increased marketing efforts and possibly more in-game events to maintain player interest. The game's performance post-launch will be closely watched by industry analysts to gauge the viability of VTuber-themed games in the broader market. Additionally, the response from the global audience will be crucial in determining future expansions or updates to the game. Stakeholders, including CyberAgent and COVER Corporation, will likely monitor player feedback to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
