The Storytel Group has announced its acquisition of Overamstel Publishers, a Belgium/Netherlands-based independent publishing company. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering Storytel's presence in the Benelux region, which is considered one of its core
markets. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but it was confirmed that Storytel purchased 100% of Overamstel, with the transaction being completed entirely in cash. Overamstel, founded in 2007, is known for its diverse imprints, including Carrera Culinair, Hollands Diep, and The House of Books, covering a wide range of genres from fiction to children's literature. The acquisition will allow Overamstel to maintain its distinct identity while benefiting from Storytel's digital reach. Overamstel's CEO, Martijn Griffioen, will continue in his role, and Storytel's Chief Content & Publishing Officer, Helena Gustafsson, will join the Overamstel board as Chair.
