Prairie View A&M's men's basketball team clinched the 8th seed in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament following a decisive 70-59 win against Texas Southern. The game, held at H&PE Arena, saw standout performances from Dontae Horne,
who scored 26 points, and Cory Wells, who added 20 points. Head coach Byron Smith attributed the victory to the team's strong defensive play, which enabled them to capitalize on offensive opportunities. Despite facing challenges such as injuries and roster changes, the team has shown resilience. Tai’Reon Joseph, a key player, is currently dealing with a plantar fascia injury but the team remains optimistic about their depth. Lance Williams, another pivotal player, contributed significantly with six assists and eight rebounds, embracing a leadership role on the court.
