What's Happening?
Roofsol Energy has entered into a 2 MWp Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Whirlpool India for its manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. This agreement, structured under the OPEX model, aims to generate approximately 3 to 3.5 million units
of green power annually. The initiative is expected to offset around 2,500 to 3,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, significantly reducing the plant's carbon footprint. Roofsol Energy, known for its investments in RESCO and Group captive projects, continues to expand its footprint in the renewable energy sector with this partnership.
Why It's Important?
This agreement highlights the growing trend of corporations investing in renewable energy to reduce their environmental impact and operational costs. By adopting solar power, Whirlpool India not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also sets a precedent for other companies in the manufacturing sector. The reduction in CO2 emissions aligns with global efforts to combat climate change, and the financial savings from reduced energy costs can enhance corporate profitability. This move also supports India's national goals for increasing renewable energy capacity.
